Infertility Treatments

Couples trying to conceive for more than a year or women older than 35years of age trying to conceive for more than 6 months should undergo basic tests for infertility.
According to the results a number of infertility treatments might be indicated. Some patients might benefit from simple methods such as cycle monitoring. For others intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization might be indicated. Others might benefit from more sophisticated treatments such as pre-implantation genetic screening or diagnosis.
IntraUterine Insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine insemination is simple and might be the first step for infertility treatment.
It is indicated in cases of unexplained infertility and /or minor sperm problems in terms of quality and quantity.
Woman should have at least one intact and patent tube.
It might be homologous or heterologous. Success rates are highly dependent on woman’s age and might be as high as 25%.
Gestational Surrogacy
Gestational surrogacy is indicated in cases where the woman has a non-functional womb or cannot gestate for medical reasons.
Sperm Donation
Sperm donation is the only solution in cases when methods for the treatment of male infertility (IUI, ICSI, FNA, TESE) cannot be applied.
Only frozen sperm is used for those that are in need of sperm donation from registered international sperm banks.
Embryo Donation
It is indicated when both partners (man and woman) are not able to undergo infertility treatments with their own gametes (oocytes and sperm).
Oocytes are from women entering the oocyte donation program.
Recipients also undergo the same tests like those entering the oocyte donation programme.
Oocytes are fertilized with donors’ sperm and transferred in the uterus of the recipient
